Laura is maybe feeling a little better this evening. But very tired and lots of neck and back pain when she moves, so she’s spent all day in bed. She occasionally says she would like to get up, but doesn’t. Her doctor had her double her pain medicine and that should be kicking in soon. If not, then she’ll go back to her previous medicine. In any case, a nurse will be out to see her in the morning.
I’m remaining optimistic that we can turn this around soon and so we’ve decided to try to walk in the Komen breast cancer walk in Boston on this coming Sunday morning. I’ll borrow a wheelchair and push Laura. If you’d like to join our “team” and walk together, follow the link to Laura’s Loose Strife team page and sign up. It would be fun to have a group of friends there with us — but I know it’s a long drive for most everyone. (The last day for online registration is Tuesday September 2, but you can just show up on the day of the event, too.)
Donations on behalf of Laura to the Massachusetts affiliate of Komen for the Cure are also welcome.
I’ll post here on Saturday with an update on our plans including a rendezvous at the event, if others plan to join us.
A race

Dear David,
I found a link to your site on the BCMets page. I’m saddened to read of your loss of this beautiful woman, companion, and mom; but also hearted to read of how you have carried on, and see how you’ve preserved her memmory.
You’ve put so much effort- both physical and emotional, into this site. I just want you to know that you’ve filled a huge void for me. I’m a husband of a BC fighter, whom is going through much the same as you’ve described about Laura’s battle. Before today, I did not know anyone who is going through, or has gone through, the same things as my family is currently going through. My wife has brain mets, which she’s battled for about 18 mos. now, and gone through just about every known treatment available. While the doctors and my wife’s tremendous will have done a tremendous job of keeping her going, as you know, the treatments themselves eventually take their toll. The disease continues to progress, and I’m beginning to see the more rapid decline in her physical and mental abilities. I won’t go into detail, but will just say that I’m so glad to have finally read about someone who has gone through much the same thing, felt the same feelings, had the same fears, etc. Up until now, it’s been a pretty lonely place. Many of your blog entries have affirmed my feelings, esp. about how to involve our 3 kids in all of this.
I’ll stop here, because I sense you are very busy. Just know that your efforts are worth every ounce of effort you’ve put into this. I will pray for you and your girls- may you all continue to carry on in the peace and love of Christ, and support of all your friends and family.
God Bless,
Bob
