David,
My sister went to Hawaii a year or two ago and this is what she says:
The book we used was “Maui Revealed” and it rocked! We can also put your
friend in touch with our friends at the Star Lookout. A recent law was
passed in the county of Maui that bans private rentals. The folks at the
Lookout are getting around it right now by calling it a “club” and are
protesting at a hearing. But it is a private house, with a hot tub, wood
stove, sleeping loft and queen bed, in upcountry Maui. Stunning views,
gorgeous, private location. Cheap. Like $200/night.
She and her husband were there with another couple and 2-10 year olds, so I don’t think kids are a problem. Let me know if you want more information. Hope Laura is feeling better . . .
This site is dedicated to the memory of Laura and is now mostly an archive of her 15-month struggle with cancer as told by her husband David and other family. A brief background of her case is found in the About section. Family photos dating back five years can be found in the main photos section. There are two slideshow retrospectives of Laura throughout her life. A collaborative tribute effort is woefully incomplete and I encourage your help.

Her photos say so much. Her lens shows us what we may otherwise have missed. I hope soon to see a post about her. . .

Laura has a way of capturing the yin and yang of bird dwellings.
