In my 40 years I have never met anyone with a better sense of design, appreciation of interesting art, and sense of personal style as Laura. Her aesthetic sensibility was unique and so incredibly sophisticated. She could get a lot of enjoyment from really cool modern art, but the same degree of satisfaction from a kitschy statue at a rest stop, if the design was unique or interesting to her. I will never forget her using the recently retired set of crayola colors (a big deal for a little while in the early 90’s) to color an incredibly nuanced Elmo and Oscar the grouch scene. I kept it on my wall for years afterward and am sure it’s still around here somewhere. Dave, these postings are excellent and much appreciated, it helps me remember what a visionary she was and also reminds me to look for beauty in weird places.
This site is dedicated to the memory of Laura and is now mostly an archive of her 15-month struggle with cancer as told by her husband David and other family. A brief background of her case is found in the About section. Family photos dating back five years can be found in the main photos section. There are two slideshow retrospectives of Laura throughout her life. A collaborative tribute effort is woefully incomplete and I encourage your help.
